GIUK gap

Giuk gap is a very deep underwater ridge located in Iceland. It is so deep that it goes down about three kilometers below the surface of the ocean. Think of it like a giant crack at the bottom of the sea. This gap is formed because two tectonic plates, which are like big puzzle pieces that make up the Earth's surface, are moving away from each other. This movement causes the Earth's crust to stretch and crack, creating a gap that we call the Giuk gap. It's like when you pull two pieces of clay apart and a crack forms in the middle. Even though the Giuk gap is very deep and hard to explore, scientists still study it to learn more about how the Earth's crust and oceans work.
