Gall wasp

Okay kiddo, gall wasps are little insects that can be found in trees. They're called gall wasps because they make something called galls.

So, what are galls? Well, let's pretend you're the gall wasp. You want to have a safe place to live and grow. But you don't want to build a house because you're too small and don't have the materials. So what do you do? You trick the tree into making a house for you!

You lay eggs in the tree's leaves, and when the eggs hatch, the baby wasps burrow into the tree. As they do, they encourage the tree to create something called a gall around them. A gall is like a little house or chamber made out of plant tissue. Think of it like a tiny tree apartment!

The gall wasps live inside the gall, feeding on the tree's tissue and growing big and strong. When they're ready, they burrow out of the gall and fly away to start the cycle all over again.

So, that's how gall wasps work. They're tiny insects that trick trees into building them homes called galls, so they can live and grow safely.
