Garcia v. Google, Inc.

Okay kiddo, let’s talk about a man named Garcia and a big company called Google.

A long time ago, Google wanted to make a movie called “The Innocence of Muslims,” and they needed some actors to play the roles. One of the actors they hired was a lady named Garcia.

Garcia was really excited to be in the movie, but when the movie was finished and released, she was upset. You see, in the movie, her character said and did things that she didn't like. She felt like the movie was making fun of her religious beliefs.

Garcia asked Google to remove the parts with her in the movie, but Google said no. So then Garcia told a judge that Google was breaking the law by not taking her out of the movie.

The judge agreed with Garcia and said that she had a right to control how her performance was used. This means that if you’re in a movie or on TV or in a play, you have the right to say how your performance is used.

Google was in trouble because they didn't listen to Garcia, so they had to take down the parts of the movie with her in it. But they didn't like this ruling and they went to a bigger court to try to change it.

The bigger court didn’t agree with Google, either. They said that Garcia had the right to control how her performance was used and that Google had to take it down.

So in the end, Garcia won the case and Google had to do what she wanted. It's important to remember that you have a right to control how your work is used, even if you’re just a little kid making a drawing or if you’re a grown-up in a movie!
