Gate house

A gate house is like a little guard house that sits at the entrance to a big place or property, like a castle or a fancy neighborhood. The gate house is usually a small building with a door and maybe some little windows. Basically, the person who is in charge of letting people in and out of the property sits inside the gate house. There could be a gate that opens and closes to let cars and people come and go. The person in the gate house might ask the drivers where they are going or who they are visiting to make sure they are supposed to be there. It's like a little house with someone who checks who is going in and out of the big place it's guarding.
