Gauge fixing

Gauge fixing is like looking for the perfect spot for a picture. You have a picture that you want to hang up on the wall and you have lots of different nails around the room. You want to find the best spot for the picture and the best spot for the nail, but you don't know where that spot is. So you use gauge fixing to decide which spot is the best. You look at different areas of the wall and see where the best spot is for the picture and the best spot for the nail. Then you hammer the nail in the correct spot and hang up the picture in the perfect spot.
