The Gender Balance Council is like a group of grown-ups who work together to make sure that there's a fair balance between boys and girls, men and women in different places. They want to make sure that everyone gets the same chances and opportunities, regardless of their gender (whether they're a boy or a girl).
They do this by looking at different things like schools, workplaces, government, and even sports teams to make sure that everyone is being treated fairly and getting a fair chance to do things they want to do.
For example, if a council member goes to a school and sees that only boys are playing sport, they might talk to the teachers to try and create a girls' team too. Or, if they see that some jobs are harder for women to get than men, they might talk to the boss to try and make it more fair for everyone.
The Gender Balance Council wants to make sure that everyone has equal opportunities no matter who they are, so that boys and girls, men and women can feel good about themselves and have a happy life.
