ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Gender history

Gender history is like learning about how boys and girls, men and women have thought about themselves and each other throughout time. Gender means the roles, behaviors, and responsibilities that are expected from people of different sexes.

For example, in the past, people used to believe that boys were always tough and brave while girls were only supposed to be gentle and caring. They also thought that men were supposed to do all the work outside the home, while women should stay home and take care of the house and children. But over time, these ideas have changed a lot because people realized that it's not fair to judge people based on their gender.

Gender history also helps us understand how people fought against these stereotypes and inequalities. People have been campaigning for women's rights and equality for centuries, and it's important to learn about these movements so we can keep fighting for fairness and equality for everyone.

In short, gender history is all about learning how people of different genders have been treated throughout history, and how they have fought against inequality to create a more equal and just society.
