Gene therapy for color blindness

Okay kiddo, so you know how some people have trouble seeing certain colors? Well, scientists have been working on a special treatment for this called gene therapy.

Gene therapy is kind of like a special medicine for our cells. It can help fix problems with our genes that might cause us to have certain health issues.

With color blindness, scientists have found a way to use gene therapy to help people see colors they couldn't see before. It's like adding a special tool to help people's eyes work a little bit better.

They do this by adding a special gene to cells in the eye that help us see colors. This gene can help our cells make a special protein that helps them detect colors better.

Scientists put this special gene into a tiny little bubble called a "vector" which they can then inject into the eye. This vector can find the cells in the eye that need the gene and give it to them.

Once the gene is inside the cells, they can start making the special protein and help people see colors better. It's a pretty nifty little trick that scientists have come up with!
