The Occupy Movement was a protest movement that started in 2011 in many countries around the world. It was started by people who were frustrated with the way that large businesses and governments were taking advantage of people. They wanted the people to have more control over the decisions that are made that affect all of us. As a response to this, people took part in protests all around the world called General Assemblies. The General Assemblies were meetings where anyone from any background could come and speak openly and discuss different ideas, concerns and hopes. The assemblies provided an opportunity for people to come together to share their voices and talk about solutions to the issues that concerned them. The assemblies were important because they allowed people to have their voices heard and led to more people joining the Occupy Movement. Overall, the Occupy Movement was a way to create change and demand justice for people who felt like they had been ignored or left out of the decision-making process.
