ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Genetic load

Genetic load is a term used to describe how much bad genetic material a person carries. This bad material can be things like genes that cause illnesses or deformities, or make it harder for someone to stay healthy. When we say someone has a high genetic load, it means they have a lot of bad genes. Someone with a low genetic load has fewer bad genes. Sometimes having too many bad genes can make it harder for a person to stay healthy, or even cause them to die.
