ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Geographic routing

Geographic routing is when you want to send something from point A to point B, but you don't know the best and fastest way to get there. So, you use a map and your brain to figure out the best way to go.

Imagine you want to deliver a pizza to your friend who lives on the other side of town. You know the general direction of where your friend lives, but you need to figure out the specific streets to take to get there. You look at a map and plan the best route based on things like traffic, road construction, and other obstacles.

Now, let's say you're a robot and you need to deliver a package to a house in a different city. You don't know the area very well, so you use a computer and special sensors to figure out the best route. The computer helps you navigate using a map and using information about the surrounding environment to avoid obstacles like buildings, rivers, and mountains.

In both the pizza delivery example and the robot delivery example, the process of using a map and figuring out the best route is called geographic routing. It helps you reach your destination faster and more efficiently by taking the most direct and effective path.
