Geography of Iraq

Okay kiddo, today we're going to talk about the geography of Iraq. Now, geography is all about studying the land, water, and atmosphere of a place.

Iraq is a country in the Middle East, which means it's located between Asia and Africa. It's bordered on the north by Turkey, on the east by Iran, on the south by Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, and on the west by Jordan and Syria. Iraq is a bit bigger than California.

When we look at Iraq on a map, we can see that it has two main rivers - the Tigris and Euphrates. These rivers are very important because they provide water for the people and animals who live in Iraq.

Iraq is mostly made up of flat, dry land called desert. That means it doesn't get very much rain and plants don't grow very well. Since plants don't grow very well, it can be hard for animals to find food. However, there are some places where farmers can grow crops by using irrigation systems (like sprinklers or canals that bring water in from the rivers).

There are also some hills and mountains in Iraq. In fact, there's a mountain range called the Zagros Mountains in the northeast part of the country. These mountains help to create a cooler, wetter climate than the rest of Iraq.

Overall, Iraq is a very dry place with a lot of desert, but it does have some rivers and mountains that create different types of habitats for plants and animals.
