ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Georg Simmel

Georg Simmel was a person who lived a long time ago and he was very interested in how people interact with each other. He thought that people were like little puzzle pieces that fit together to make bigger pictures, and that our relationships with other people are really important.

He also thought that society is made up of all kinds of different parts, like groups of people with different jobs or religions or backgrounds. Simmel felt that these different parts were connected to each other and were all part of a bigger whole.

One interesting thing about Simmel is that he thought people were always trying to balance their desire to be part of a group with their desire to be an individual. So, even though we all want to be part of a community and have relationships with other people, we also want to be unique and stand out.

Overall, Georg Simmel was a person who was very interested in people and how they interact with each other. He was always thinking about how society was made up of lots of different parts, and how those parts all fit together to make a bigger picture.
