Georges Sorel was a French philosopher who lived from 1847 to 1922. He is famous for coming up with the idea of “myth”, which he believed was something that could be used to motivate people and help bring about social change. He believed that people need to believe in something bigger than themselves in order to really commit to something and push for social reform. He thought that myths, like stories or ideas, could be used to inspire people to work hard for something bigger than themselves.
