German Renewable Energy Sources Act

Ok kiddo, so there is something called the German Renewable Energy Sources Act (also called EEG in Germany). It's a big law that the German government made to help the country use more clean and renewable energy instead of dirty energy from things like coal and oil.

The EEG makes it easier and cheaper for people to make their own electricity using things like the sun and the wind. This is called "renewable energy" because it never runs out, unlike coal and oil.

Here's how it works: let's say your mom and dad want to put solar panels on the roof of your house. That's great for the environment because it means you won't need as much dirty energy to power your home. But putting up those solar panels can be expensive. That's where the EEG comes in.

The EEG says that if your mom and dad put up those solar panels, they can sell any extra energy they produce back to the electrical grid (which is like a big network that connects all the power plants, homes, and businesses in Germany). The grid then pays your mom and dad a fair price for that clean energy.

This helps your mom and dad pay for those solar panels, which means more people can afford to use clean energy. And when more people use clean energy, that's good for the environment and it makes the air we breathe cleaner too!

So that's what the German Renewable Energy Sources Act does, it helps people use more renewable energy and reduce the amount of dirty energy we use.
