During World War II, Germany was a country that was trying to conquer a lot of other countries. As part of this, Germany sent soldiers to a lot of different countries in Europe, like France, Poland and Norway. This was called being German-occupied; it meant that Germany was in control of that country and the people there had to do whatever the German soldiers said. Eventually, the Allies (like the United States and Britain) won the war and the Germans had to leave the countries they had taken over.
