So, there's a big group of countries in Europe where people speak a language called German. Some of these countries are Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. That's what we call German-speaking Europe!
German is a little different from English – it uses different sounds and has some different rules for putting words together. But just like how you can understand your friends when they talk in English, people in German-speaking Europe can understand each other when they speak German.
Now, even though these countries share a language, they each have their own culture and traditions too. In Germany, people might eat sausages and drink beer at a festival called Oktoberfest. In Austria, you might hear music from a special instrument called a zither. And in Switzerland, they celebrate a holiday called St. Nicholas Day where kids get treats and presents.
Even though they're all different, these countries in German-speaking Europe have something special in common: they all speak the same language!
