Germanic personal names in Galicia

Okay kiddo, so "Germanic personal names" are names that come from ancient Germanic tribes like the Goths and the Visigoths. These names were common in a region called Galicia, which is in North-West Spain.

Galicia has a long and complicated history with different groups of people coming and going over the centuries. One of those groups was the Germanic tribes who settled there during the early Middle Ages. These Germanic tribes brought with them their own unique names, like "Gundisalvus" and "Hermenegildus".

Over time, these Germanic names became common in Galicia and were adopted by the local people there. This is why you might still hear people in Galicia today with names like "Gonzalo" or "Rodrigo", which are actually originally from the Germanic names "Gundisalvus" and "Roderic".

So even though Galicia is a part of Spain where people speak Spanish, they also have a long history with the Germanic tribes who left their mark on the region through their unique names.
