Gezira Scheme

The Gezira Scheme is a project in Sudan that was formed in 1925. It was formed to help the people of Sudan grow crops like cotton in an area of land that didn't have much water. The Gezira Scheme did this by using a big dam to collect lots of water. The water was then pumped through a canal to the land, which helped the crops grow. It also saved the people of Sudan a lot of time and money that they would have spent harvesting water and irrigating the land manually. For this reason, the Gezira Scheme was very important and still benefits the people of Sudan today.
