ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Gilgamesh

Gilgamesh was a really old king who lived a very long time ago in a land called Mesopotamia, which is now known as Iraq. People used to tell stories about him because he was very brave and strong, but also very proud and sometimes mean.

One of the most famous stories about Gilgamesh what that he went on a long journey to find something called immortality. This means that he wanted to live forever and never die. He heard that there was a magical plant that could make this happen, so he set off on a journey to find it. Along the way, he had lots of adventures and met lots of interesting people, and even fought a monster.

Finally, Gilgamesh found the plant, but before he could eat it and become immortal, a sneaky snake came and stole it from him. So, he didn't get what he wanted, but he learned a lot about himself and the world around him along the way.

The story of Gilgamesh is really old, but it's still important today because it teaches us about the human desire for life and immortality, and also about the importance of humility and learning from your mistakes.
