Glacial erratic

Have you ever seen a big rock that looks like it doesn't belong in that area? That's called a glacial erratic!

A long time ago, there were huge sheets of ice called glaciers that covered a lot of our planet. They were so big and heavy that they could pick up rocks and carry them along as they moved.

When the glaciers started to melt and retreat, they dropped these big rocks in random places. That's why you can find big rocks in weird spots, like on top of hills or far away from any other rocks.

These rocks are like souvenirs from the glaciers - reminders of a time when the world was covered in ice.
