Gold Coast ackey

Okay kiddo, so have you ever heard about the Gold Coast Ackee? It's a fruit that grows in the Caribbean, especially in Jamaica.

Now, the Gold Coast Ackee is a very special fruit because it's not like any other fruit you might have tasted. You see, only the ripe parts of the fruit are edible, the rest of it is actually poisonous!

So, farmers have to be very careful when they harvest the fruit. They wait until the ackee pods turn bright red and then they carefully pick them and remove all the poisonous parts.

After that, they cook the ripe parts of the ackee pods and use them in many different dishes. Some people eat them as a healthy breakfast, others mix them with saltfish to make a traditional Jamaican dish called ackee and saltfish.

So, even though the Gold Coast Ackee may be a little bit tricky to harvest and prepare, it sure is a unique and special fruit that adds lots of flavor to many Caribbean dishes.
