ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Golden hammer

Okay kiddo, you know how sometimes we have our favorite toy or tool and we want to use it for everything, even if it's not the best choice? That's kind of like what we call a "golden hammer."

You know how hammers are great for nailing things together? But what if we tried to use a hammer to fix a bicycle chain or stir soup? It probably wouldn't work very well, right? But sometimes people get really attached to one tool or idea, and they start trying to use it for things that it's not meant for.

That's when we say they have a "golden hammer." It's like they think their favorite thing is so amazing that it can solve any problem, even if it's not the best fit for the job.

It's important to remember that just because we like something, that doesn't mean it's always the best choice for every situation. Sometimes we need to be open to using different tools or ideas that are better suited for the task at hand.
