A gondola (rail) is a type of train car used on an aerial lift system. It is specially designed to carry people up and down mountains or hills. The gondola has a large cabin area with a door at the front and back, so people can get in and out easily. Inside the cabin, there are seats and sometimes straps to hold people in place so they don't fall out while the gondola is in motion. On one side of the cabin, there are rails made out of steel which the gondola rides on, and on the other side there is a rope or cable attached to the gondola that runs along the track. The gondola moves up and down the track as the rope or cable moves. It can carry people to ski slopes or other mountain destinations.
