Gonets

Gonets refers to a system of communication satellites that are used to send messages and data from one point to another on Earth. These satellites orbit around the Earth and are placed at specific locations to ensure maximum coverage.

Think of it like a toy train running around a track, except the train is a satellite orbiting the Earth. The satellites carry messages and data just like the toy train carries cargo.

Gonets was originally built for use by the Russian military to communicate with remote areas of Russia where traditional communication methods such as radio or telephone weren't possible. Now, it is also used in industries like forestry, transportation, and fishing for remote data collection and communication.

So, if you wanted to talk to someone who lived in a really far away place where phones or radios couldn't reach, you could send a message up to a Gonets satellite and it would pass it on to the person you wanted to talk to. It's like a messenger service with a satellite as the messenger.
