Goryeo

Goryeo is a very old kingdom that existed a long time ago in Korea. It was named after the dynasty that ruled there from 918 to 1392. Think of it as a big club, where the people who live in that area all come together and follow the same rules and have a leader to help keep everything organized.

During Goryeo, many important things happened. People made beautiful crafts, like pottery and ceramics, and wrote amazing stories and poems. They also built lots of temples and palaces, some of which still remain today for us to visit.

Goryeo wasn't always peaceful, though. Sometimes, wars happened, and many people lost their lives. The kingdom fell to the Mongol Empire, which was a vastly powerful military state in the 13th century but it regained its independence a few decades later.

Eventually, the Goryeo dynasty ended when a new group of people, called the Joseon dynasty, took control. But, the legacy of Goryeo lives on through its cultural achievements and historical significance. It remains an important part of Korean history and identity.
