Government cheese

Okay kiddo, so government cheese is something that the government used to give out to people who were having a hard time buying food. It started in the 1930s when there was a lot of poverty and hunger in the United States.

Basically, the government would buy a lot of cheese from farmers who had too much of it and couldn't sell it all. Then they would give it to people who were struggling to afford food. It helped a lot of people who were really hungry and didn't have much money.

Nowadays, the government doesn't really give out cheese like they used to. But some people still remember it as something that helped them when times were tough.
