Graduated cylinder

A graduated cylinder is a special kind of container that helps us measure how much liquid we have. Imagine you have a big cup to hold water in. But you might want to know exactly how much water is in your cup, right? That's where a graduated cylinder comes in handy.

A graduated cylinder looks like a long, skinny tube. It's made of clear material, so you can see through it. On the side of the cylinder, there are lines that show how much liquid is in the container. You can think of these lines like marks on a ruler.

When you pour liquid into the graduated cylinder, you'll see it fill up to a certain level. That level is shown by the line on the cylinder that's closest to the surface of the liquid. For example, if you pour in some water, you'll see that the water fills up to a certain line on the cylinder. That line tells you how much water you have.

Graduated cylinders come in different sizes. Some are big and can hold a lot of liquid. Others are smaller and can only hold a little bit. But they all work the same way - by telling you exactly how much liquid you have.

So the next time you need to measure how much liquid you have, look for a graduated cylinder. It's like having a special cup with its own ruler built in!
