Gran Colombia is like a big family with three brothers: Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador. They all lived together in one big house, but sometimes they didn't get along very well.
Their big brother, Simón Bolívar, helped them get independence from their daddy, Spain. He thought it would be better if they all lived together because they had more things in common than differences.
They all agreed and formed a new country called Gran Colombia. They shared everything and tried to work together, but sometimes they still had fights, like siblings often do.
Eventually, the differences between the brothers grew too big and they decided it was better to split up and live separately. So now, Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador are three different countries, but they still share a lot of history and culture because they used to live together in Gran Colombia.
