Granite dome

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a big rock that is shaped like a half dome or a hill? That's called a granite dome!

Now, granite is a type of rock that is really hard and strong. It's made up of different minerals like feldspar, quartz, and mica. Sometimes it takes millions of years for granite to form.

When big pieces of rock slowly move and shift, they can push up the granite and make it rise to the surface of the Earth. The granite can also be exposed if the dirt and other rocks around it erode away over a long time. And when the granite is eroded by wind and water, it takes on different shapes like domes, hills, and cliffs.

Granite domes can be found in many places around the world. Like in Yosemite National Park in California, USA where there is a famous granite dome called Half Dome. It's a popular place for people to hike and climb!
