ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Graphocentrism

Graphocentrism is when people think that writing and reading is the most important way to communicate and learn things. Imagine if you were playing a game with your friends and one of them kept saying that the only way to write down the rules of the game is important, and that you can't understand the game if you don't read it. They might think that writing is the ONLY way to learn things, even though you and your friends might be able to learn by talking or showing each other how to play. That's kind of like how some adults think that reading and writing is the only way to learn or communicate important things, even though there are many other ways to learn and share information, like drawing pictures or acting something out. So, Graphocentrism is thinking reading and writing is the most important way of learning and communicating.
