Gratitude trap

The gratitude trap is when we feel grateful for something, but we end up feeling stuck and unable to take action towards improving our situation.

Imagine that your teacher gives you a really difficult math problem to solve. You try and try but just can’t seem to figure it out. Your teacher notices how hard you’re working and tells you that you’re doing a great job and that she’s proud of you for trying so hard. You feel grateful because of her kind words, but you still don’t know how to solve the math problem.

It’s important to express gratitude when someone does something nice for you, but it’s also important to not let that gratitude prevent you from taking the necessary steps to move forward. So next time, try to show gratitude, but also ask for help if you need it.
