Graupel

Graupel is like tiny pieces of snow that are mushy and a bit squishy. Imagine you are making a snowball and you accidentally drop it on the ground. The snowball gets all bumpy and lumpy and not smooth anymore, right? That’s kind of like graupel!

Sometimes when it’s cold and rainy outside, the raindrops can freeze into little balls before they hit the ground. They’re so weird, they even have their own name: graupel!
