Gray Whale Cove State Beach

Gray Whale Cove State Beach is a place by the ocean where people can go to have fun and play in the water and the sand. It's called Gray Whale Cove because sometimes big gray whales swim nearby in the ocean, although you might not see them all the time.

The word "cove" means a small and curved place where the land goes out into the water. So, Gray Whale Cove is a small and curved part of the coastline where the land meets the ocean.

To get to Gray Whale Cove, you have to walk down a steep path from the road, so you need to be careful and hold onto something while you go down. Once you get to the beach, you can play in the sand and water, look for shells and pebbles, and maybe even build a sandcastle.

It's important to remember that the ocean can be powerful and dangerous, so you need to listen to the adults who are with you and not go too far into the water. Also, it's important to pick up any trash you see and not leave it on the beach so that it stays clean for everyone to enjoy.
