Great Pacific garbage patch

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is a big area of water in the Pacific Ocean, between Hawaii and California, where there's a lot of floating trash. The trash is made of tiny bits of plastic, mostly from things like plastic bottles, plastic bags, and even micro-plastics like tiny beads. All the plastic gets swept up and goes into the same spot. Because it's so light, it floats, and the wind and waves push it around, making it hard to clean up. It's like a big ball of plastic in the ocean, and it's growing bigger every day.
