Great Trunk Road

Okay kiddo, do you know what roads are? They're the things cars and trucks drive on to get from one place to another. Well, a "great trunk road" is just a fancy name for a really important road, kind of like a highway.

Long, long ago in countries like India and China, people built these big roads that went really far and connected lots of cities and towns together. These roads were made of dirt and rocks at first, but later they became paved with bricks or stones.

These great trunk roads were important because they made it easier for people to travel and trade with each other. Merchants could carry goods like silk, spices, and tea along these roads to sell in different markets, and travelers could use them to visit family or explore new places.

Even though we have cars and highways now, some of these old great trunk roads still exist today and are popular tourist attractions. They're a reminder of how people used to get around a long time ago.
