Green Sahara is a nickname people use when talking about a time in history when North Africa had a much wetter climate than it does now. During this period, which lasted from about 8,000 years ago to 4,000 years ago, the area had savannas and grasslands, along with rivers and lakes scattered around. This made it much easier for people and animals to live in the area, and they were even able to grow crops like wheat and barley.
