Green-beard effect

The green-beard effect happens when a group of people share a trait that makes them recognize each other more easily. For example, everybody in the group might have green beards. Even though people don't actually recognize each other's green beards, they might recognize that they are all green-bearded people and start to interact differently and treat each other better than other people who don't have green beards. This is called the green-beard effect.
