ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

GridPoint

A gridpoint is like a dot on a piece of paper that is part of a very big grid. Imagine you have a piece of graph paper and you draw a line every 5 squares horizontally and vertically. The point where these lines intersect is a gridpoint. It is like a little spot on the paper that is special because it has a specific location that can be described by its position on the grid. You can use gridpoints to help you find things on a map or to give directions to someone. Just like when you play battleship and you try to guess where your opponent's ships are, you might say "I think there is a ship at gridpoint D7." That way, your opponent can easily see where you are talking about on the grid.
