Griqua coinage is like playing house, but with special money! A long time ago, in a place called South Africa, there were some people called Griquas who wanted to make their own money. So they pretended to be like the big people who made the real money and made their own coins!
The Griqua people used little pieces of metal to make their coins, instead of paper like we use now. They made different types of coins, like a penny, a half-penny, and a quarter-penny. These coins had pictures of their leaders and other important things, just like real money.
When the big people who made the real money found out, they got mad and said that the Griqua money wasn't really money at all! So the Griquas had to stop making their coins and use the big people's money instead.
But now, some of the Griqua coins are very special because they are rare and hard to find. They remind us of the Griqua people and how they tried to make their own money just like the big people.
