Ground frost

Ground frost is like when you go outside in the morning and everything is covered in sparkly white stuff. That's because at nighttime, the Earth gets really cold and makes the water in the air freeze. This frozen water is called frost.

But ground frost is a little different. When the ground gets really cold, it can make the water under the ground freeze too! This frozen water is called ground frost. And it can happen even when the air around us isn't super cold.

When ground frost happens, it can make the ground really hard and slippery. And it can be dangerous if you're not careful. But it can also be really pretty to look at!
