ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Group contraction

Have you ever played with blocks and made a tower? Sometimes when you have a lot of friends playing with you, you can work together to make a really big tower. This is like what happens when our muscles work together in groups.

Our muscles are made up of little fibers that can tighten up to move different parts of our body. When we want to move something, like lifting a toy or running, our muscles need to work together.

A group contraction is when a bunch of muscles all work together to move something. It's like all the kids in your class teaming up to lift something heavy. This makes it easier to move the object because everyone is working together instead of just one person.

When we do exercises like push-ups or squats, we use group contractions to move our body. Our muscles work together to lift us up and down. It's important to have strong muscles so that we can do things like run, jump, and play!
