Guernica (Picasso)

Guernica is a very big and special painting made by a famous artist named Pablo Picasso. He made it a long time ago in the year 1937. The painting is full of interesting colors and shapes that are supposed to make you think and feel different things when you look at it.

The painting is named after a city in Spain called Guernica. A long time ago, something very bad happened in that city. Some people came and bombed it, which means they dropped big bombs from planes and made a lot of buildings and things break and catch on fire. Many people were hurt or killed in the bombing.

Picasso was very upset about what happened in Guernica, so he decided to make this painting to show how he and other people felt about it. When you look at the painting, you might see a lot of different things happening. There are people and animals and buildings, but they don't all look the way they normally do. It's like they are mixed up and in strange positions.

Some people think the painting looks scary or sad or angry because it's supposed to make you feel like that. Other people think it's really cool and interesting to look at because of all the different things happening in it. Whatever you think, it's important to remember that Guernica is an important painting that shows us how art can help us understand and remember important events in history.
