ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Gulf of Mexico Foundation

The Gulf of Mexico Foundation is like a big group of grown-ups who work together to protect the Gulf of Mexico, which is a big body of water in the southern part of the United States. Just like how your parents take care of you to keep you healthy and safe, the Gulf of Mexico Foundation takes care of the Gulf of Mexico to keep it healthy and safe.

They do lots of things! They clean up the Gulf after big storms or oil spills so that the animals who live there can keep being happy and healthy. They also work with people who live around the Gulf to make sure that they don't throw trash or chemicals into the water, which could hurt the animals and the environment.

The Gulf of Mexico Foundation also helps scientists learn more about the ocean and the animals that live in it. They teach people how to fish responsibly so that they don't catch too many fish and the fish have time to make more babies! And they help take care of the seashells and sand that are important parts of the Gulf's ecosystem.

Basically, the Gulf of Mexico Foundation is like the caretaker of the Gulf of Mexico, making sure all the living things that call it home stay happy and healthy.
