ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Gush Katif

Gush Katif was a place in Israel where many Jewish people lived. They had houses and farms and they worked very hard to make them nice. However, some people who did not like the Jewish people living there wanted them to leave. In the year 2005, the government of Israel decided that the Jewish people must leave Gush Katif and move somewhere else. They gave them some money to help them move, but it was still very sad for the people who lived there. They had to leave their homes, their farms, and their friends behind. It was like leaving everything they knew and starting over in a new place. Some people were very upset about this, but others thought it was the right thing to do. Even now, many years later, people still think about Gush Katif and what happened there.
