HL-20 Personnel Launch System

The HL-20 Personnel Launch System is like a big, fancy spaceship that can take people up into space. It's called a launch system because it launches, or lifts off, from the ground.

The HL-20 looks like a small shuttle, kind of like a giant airplane. It's made up of lots of different parts, like engines, a cockpit where the astronauts sit, and a big space in the back where they can store things.

When it's time to go to space, the HL-20 blasts off into the sky with powerful boosters. It travels up through the Earth's atmosphere, which is the blanket of gases around the planet. As it gets higher and higher, it moves past the atmosphere and into space, where there is no air.

Once it's in space, the HL-20 can orbit the Earth or travel to other places in space. Astronauts can do lots of important things from the HL-20, like conduct experiments and research, or even fix broken satellites.

When it's time to come back to Earth, the HL-20 will re-enter the atmosphere and slow down with special heat shields. It will land on a runway like an airplane, and the astronauts will step out of the cockpit, happy to be back on solid ground.
