HRIS stands for Human Resources Information System. It is a computer system used to collect and manage data about people who work for a company. HRIS helps people in the Human Resources (HR) department store information about employees, manage payroll and benefits, and track employees' time off. With HRIS, HR can easily look up someone’s work history, calculate payroll, and find out who was absent on a certain day. HRIS is like a big filing cabinet, only it’s in the computer, and it makes HR’s job easier.
