ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

HTTP 301

HTTP 301 is a status code (a number that tells you what's happening) that web browsers (like Google Chrome or Safari) and web servers (like Apache or IIS) use to communicate with each other. When the web browser or server sees a 301 code, it means that a page or website has been permanently moved to a new location. This means that if someone types in the old website address, the browser will automatically redirect them to the new address.
