ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

HTTP header

When you go to a website, your computer sends a message to the website's computer to ask for a webpage. The website's computer then sends back the webpage, but it also sends something called an HTTP header.

Think of the HTTP header like a little note that tells your computer more information about the webpage. It might tell your computer things like what kind of document it is (like a web page or a video), how long it will take to load, and what kind of language it's written in.

The HTTP header is important because it helps your computer understand how to show you the webpage correctly. It's like a set of instructions that your computer follows to make sure everything works properly.
