ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

HURDAT

Hurdat is like a big book that keeps track of all the big windy storms, called hurricanes, that happen in the oceans. It tells us important things like where the hurricane was, how strong it was, and what kind of damage it caused. Scientists use Hurdat to study hurricanes and figure out how to keep people safe from them. So, just like how you might write in your own little notebook to remember important things, scientists use Hurdat to remember important information about hurricanes.
